What's Acupunctue?

What's Acupuncture?

Originating in China about 5,000 years ago, acupuncture is the oldest continuously practiced medical system in the world. Outside of China, in other parts of Asia, Europe, and South America acupuncture has been used for about 200 years.

Acupuncture is a complete system of medicine. It offers a unique view on illness and disease as symptoms are seen in relationship to the whole person. It works with the energetic pathways of the body called meridians. It’s primary purpose is to create movement by clearing away energy blocks and allowing natural Qi to flow.

Very thin, sterile and disposable stainless steel needles are placed in the surface of the skin at specific acupuncture points. Typically, when the needle is inserted most people feel a “Qi sensation” a deep ache or tingling. This may relieve pain by releasing endorphins, the body’s natural pain-killing chemicals and by affecting the part of the brain that governs serotonin, a brain chemical involved with mood. Therefore, by restoring the flow of energy, symptoms are relieved and balance is restored to the mind, body and spirit.

Acupuncture treatment generally produces an improved sense of well-being and relaxation.

Our Approach

BodyGarden-731x1024.jpg

We see the body like a garden that must be cultivated and maintained in order to grow strong and remain healthy. Good health is experienced when all of the organs and meridian systems are balanced and working together.
